What is Bee Approved?
Bee Approved is an organic, gluten free syrup made from brown rice. It looks like honey and has the same texture and flavour as honey, however, it does not come from bees or bee hives.
How can Bee Approved be used?
The answer is, as you would use honey: on its own, in cereals, desserts, ice creams, biscuits, yogurts, sauces, cocktails and more! Bee Approved is nutritious, flavoursome and safe; even in baby foods. Check out our Blog page for tried and tested recipes and food and drink hints and tips on how to use.
Who should use Bee Approved?
Bee Approved is an alternative for vegans, environmentally friendly people, animal lovers and those who are conscious of their conventional sugar intake. Bee Approved is an ideal substitute for traditional sugars, corn syrup, honey, molasses and maple syrup. As with most things in life, except love, we recommend using Bee Approved in moderation, as on its journey to the small intestine the syrup gets broken down into basically 100 per cent glucose, the same sugar that raises blood sugar levels.
Is Bee Approved an alternative sweetener for diabetics?
No, it is not. Its glycaemic index (GI) is high, approximately 90. The glycaemic index is a relative ranking of carbohydrate in foods according to how they affect blood glucose levels.
How is Bee Approved made?
It is made by breaking down the starch content of cooked rice, turning it into easily digestible sugars.
